Maryborough Hospitals' Past Nurses - our Heritage for the Future

Did you know that Maryborough's public hospitals have a 100 year history of training nurses from the 1890s to 1992? Check the photographic exhibits of our past nurses which show the changes in nurses uniform over the years and where they lived. Marvel at the equipment that they used or had to deal with. Learn about some of the working conditions that the nurses had to endure. Find out about some of our 'special' nurses.
On display you will be able to discover some of Maryborough's public hospitals' (both general and maternity) 100 year history of training nurses. You will see photos of nurses dating from 1880s which show the changes in the style of uniform that they wore, be astounded at some of the old medical and nursing equipment as well as old nursing text books. Learn about the nurses working conditions and their accommodation. Learn about some of Maryborough's individual nurses such as those who served in wars and undertook special duties.
