Chinese Pioneering Women in Far North Queensland Museum Exhibition

This exhibit chronicles the lives of pioneering women from Far North Queensland, particularly those of Chinese heritage or connected to Chinese Australian families. The exhibit explores their resilience, hardships, and achievements across different generations, highlighting the challenges they faced in remote and often harsh environments.
This exhibit reflects the evolving role of women from the 19th century to the present, highlighting the societal changes that allowed women greater independence and opportunities.
Visitors attending during the Heritage Festival will also have the chance to explore special displays throughout the month. These include a visual journey through unseen photographs of the transformation of Atherton Chinatown over the years, as well as an exhibit highlighting some of the temple's most symbolic features.
