'The Gaol and the Graveyard' Tour

A guided cemetery twilight tour exploring the fascinating historical connections between the heritage-listed South Brisbane Cemetery and the nearby Boggo Road heritage prison.

You will visit the graves of people who worked or 'lived' at the Boggo Road heritage prison as your guides piece together the history of the infamous old gaol. Hear the stories of warders, inmates, executed prisoners and the hangman. This twilight tour by the Friends of South Brisbane Cemetery is part of the official celebrations for the 150th anniversary of this beautiful burial ground.

Meet at the main gates of the cemetery at Annerley Road. There is limited parking parking available inside the cemetery grounds. Please wear enclosed shoes. The walk is of medium difficulty as there are a few uphill sections.
