150 Years of Rail

Apr 25, 2021, 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM

The state heritage listed Railway precinct is a must visit destination. Join your guide Paul Herbert as he develops the argument as to why the Toowoomba Railway is the most important piece of transport infrastructure ever built in Queensland.

Learn about the importance of the railway during World War two and discover two of Queensland’s best preserved air raid shelters. Uncover some of the fascinating stories accumulated over 150 years, from the antics of the young ladies working in the refreshment rooms to the ghost that is said to haunt the tracks.

The Railway precinct is a true treasure. Come and explore it with a passionate local.

This is a walking tour, so please wear appropriate footwear and clothes to suit the weather conditions on the day. Included in the cost is a drink with the tour guide at the end of the tour.
